October Favorites 2014

Just a quick post to share some beauty products I have been loving over October.

First is the Witch Hazel Toner by T.N Dickenson which has been a life saver. I had been suffering with a really bad outbreak when I first got to Australia and added this to my daily routine to help keep my skin under control and it really has helped me.

I came across Rimmel Wake Me Up concealer and thought I would give it a try. It’s not my holy grail of concealers but I would recommend as really good drugstore conceal.

Next is L’Oreal Infallible Lipstick in Tender Berry, it’s such a gorgeous shade and never been wearing it nearly every day.

My friend has been using the L’Oreal Super Slim Eyeliner and was raving about it so I gave it a go. It’s a little thinner that what I’m used to so I had to alter my technique a little but is a good liner to get a perfect liner and doesn't smudge or fade during the day.

So I Went Ombre

So I finally decided after about 2 years of debating to get my hair done Ombre style. I know I’m a bit late on this trend but I finally decided it was time.
Before I went to the Salon I decided to have a look on Pinterest for some hair inspiration, I wanted the ombre effect to be quite natural and subtle, I wanted to keep my ends the blonde shade they were as I was happy with it and also didn't want to dye them anymore, for the top of my head I went about a shade darker than my natural color, reason being a for the blend and more importantly, as I won't have the opportunity to have my hair done for a while as I will be travelling I wanted the color to be close to the root colour to make my regrowth so being a shade darker will allow any lighting the sun my cause as well.

I found this amazing hair shot and fell in love!! Is is what im aiming for.

I was very very pleased with the results of my hair, the colour came out just how I want it too and I a lovely cut.

And this was my end results

I still have a bit of growing to do until it looks anything like the picture above but im sooooo happy with it now!!

My Ultimate Favorite Perfumes Of All Time

Ralph Lauren - Cool

I first started wearing this perfume in 2005, I fell in love with it from a sample in a magazine and my boyfriend at time time surprised me with it and I was over the moon.
First if all I love and packaging and the bottle, I find it very fitting to the scent. This perfume is a floral & fruity scent which I find is very refreshing. This has now been discontinued (like most of my other favorites) which I am absolutely gutted about. I has now become so hard to get hold of.

Hilary Duff - With Love

I discovered this perfume in America in 2007. I not one to buy a perfume based on its celebrity endorsement or anything, I just randomly gave it a try and really liked it. The fragrance is described as  flowery combines fruit, milk, mangosteen, flower, musk, amber, exotic spices, and cocobolo wood. And yet this is another discontinued fragrance.

Lacoste - Inspiration

I first came across this fragrance in 2009 and loved it. I sound the scent really soft and great for an everyday perfume. Top notes of pink peppercorn, pomegranate, mirabelle plum, and mandarin . With middle notes of muguet, jasmine, peony, and tuberose. Then a base of vanilla, sandalwood, musky accord, and iris. And you guess it, this is also DISCONTINUED (I don't have the greatest of luck).

CK One Shock- For Her

Yes one perfume that isn't discontinued and think I would actually cry if they did. I started wearing this in 2011 and so did all of my friends. We all fell in love with samples my friend had and we all had to go out and buy it!!

What's In My Bag

First of all I would like to apologise for the quality of my pictures. As I am travelling I don't have the luxury for using lights for my photos and have to work with the backgrounds I have.

I fell in love with this bag when I first ever went into Forever New. You can see from my previous post that I'm totally obsessed with Forever New now and this was my first ever purchase.

Forever New describes this bag as "The Rylie Laptop Bag is the perfect bag to use for your laptop and also to carry all your essential handbag items. Featuring 3 zipped compartments with the middle one suitable for a 15 inch laptop. Featuring sleek soft gold hardware details and branded Forever New plate on the front. Approximate Dimensions: H 28cm, W 44cm, D 13cm."

This bag is perfect if you are always carrying your laptop around with you. The bag is strong and stylish with the option of a shoulder strap. You have lots of space, though I do find myself looking through all 6 compartments looking for items which is never good when your in a rush, so I decided to put a structure in place to make myself easier.

Items in my bag:

Iphone 5 – for my every blogging need
Ear Phone – I cannot go a day without listening to music
Ted Baker Purse – For my cards & cash
Keys – even though I never actually need them
Passport – Normally use this as ID as my UK Driving licence isn't acceptable in most places
Typo Notebook – For writing down and ideas for blog/travelling & life
Work pass – to get into my building
Paracetamol – for any pains I might get
Sunglasses – Well I am in Australia
Laptop – Fits so nicely in my bag. Can't live without my baby
Laura Mercier – Best concealer ever, read my post about it here
Lipstick – Loreal Tender Berry. Loving this colour
#Girlboss Book – Trying to finish this book!
Boohoo Sign – I revived this with my boohoo delivery, just in case I get an opportunity

Nioxin Review - How To Treat Thinning Hair

As you may know from many of my previous blogs, I was quite ill over most of 2013 and beginning of 201, As a result of being ill it caused my hair to fall out. It wasn’t massively noticeable but I had two bald patches with lucky I could cover if my hair was down. It was washing my hair that was the worst. Everything clumps of hair would come out which was quite sickening.

So I decided to give Nioxin another try, I had previously used this before but did not benefit much from it, but now I was in need of its magic .

Nixon states that “NIOXIN uses advanced technologies to deliver thicker, fuller, denser-looking hair. Our commitment to innovation, supported by research, enables us to be able to help enables us to be able to help more than 50% of people worldwide who experience thinning hair.

They offer 6 different systems deepening on your hair type and needs
System 1 - normal to thin-looking, fine, natural hair,
System 2- noticeably thinning, fine, natural hair,
System 3- normal to thin-looking, fine, chemically treated hair
System 4 - noticeably thinning, fine, chemically-treated hair,
System 5 - normal to thin-looking, medium to coarse, natural or chemically-treated hair
System 6 - noticeably thinning, medium to coarse, natural or chemically-treated hair

I went with System 4 as my hair was noticeable thinning and also I have chemically treated, basically this mean if you dyed your hair.

I have been using this for a month now and have seen a major improvement. I have new hair growth where my bald patches used to be and the new hair is growing out nicely, the bald patches barely noticeable anymore.

When washing my hair it no longer falls out like it used to which is a massive sigh of relief. The shampoo & conditioner have a minty scent and also a cooling sensation when you first use it but after a couple of washes you get used to the sensation.

The cons I found with the shampoo & conditions are; one, my hair gets greasy quicker than more and two my hair become quite limp and is harder to work.

I would recommend this shampoo if you’re are suffering for hair loss or thinning, this product definitely works!! But for myself I don’t think it would use this as a standard shampoo/condition as per the cons I listed.

I think that is really refreshing to actually find a product that does exactly what it was on to “tin” so to speak.

Adult Acne:How To Treat It - Dermalogica Medibac Kit Review

I guess that during my teenage years I was really lucky when it came to my skin. I hardly ever had spots and if I did it was just one once in a blue moon. So it was a surprised when a started getting out breaks of Adult acne.
I believe the cause comes from a few different reasons, the main one being last year after a year of illness, operations and hospital trips I started getting psoriasis, especially on my scalp.
My dermatologist then prescribed me a really strong steroid scalp treatment, using this on my scalp it often ran down on my forehead, hence starting my breakouts, even the doctor confirmed that the scalp treatment causes out breaks.
I have stopped using the scalp treatment for at least 5 months now but still have bad outbreaks, which I believe is down to my diet.
It’s not secret that what we put into our bodies can have a major effect on our skin, and since arriving in Australia my diet has been a sinful one, not only has it effect my skin but I’ve also put in a far bit of weight (that’s a while other story).
Of course the first thing people tell you when trying to treat adult acne is eat healthy and drink plenty of water, which is what I have been doing but sometimes we need some extra help and this is where the Dermolgica’s Medibac Adult acne kit.

I am a big fan out Dermalogic products and thought this was well worth a try and the kit only cost me $44.
What the kit contains
·         Clearing Skin Wash 50mL
·         Sebum Clearing Masque 22mL
·         Clearing Mattifier 14mL
·         Overnight Clearing Gel 14mL
·         Concealing Spot Treatment 3mL
·         Oil Control Lotion (sample)
·         MediBac Clearing Brochure

Product Breakdown.

Clearing Mattifier – this is by far my favourite product out of the kit. This is a medicated topical treatment to help clear up your breakouts & helps stop your pores getting congested. I use this after I have cleansed my face, in my morning routine. The product felts like and has the texture like a general pore primer. Take care when apply this product, if you use too much or try rubbing it in to hard it will become clumpy. I will 100% buy the full size product.

Oil Control Lotion – only given a small little sachet sample of this and I haven’t actually used this product yet as I don’t have a tendency to get oily skin so I do not think I was get much benefit from using it.

Concealing Spot Treatment – this product has quite a dark tone to it and defiantly does not much my skin tone. I use this product when my skin is especially red. I add it to my makeup routine, apply it to me skin before my foundation.

Clearing Skin Wash – A good face wash, only need to use a small about and foams really well. My skin feels very clean after using the product but tends to feel a little dryer then I would like ti too. This is probably due to the fact it focus on clearing oils & my skin isn’t that oily.

Sebum Clearing Mask – I defiantly feel this mask helps reduce redness and it also refreshed my skin and gives it a healthy glow. I try to use this product at least twice a week leaving it on for about 15 minutes.

Overnight Clearing Gel – A very good products to keep your skin refreshed over night while working to reduce the acne. Obviously I use this in my night time routine, and it really does make your skin feel really refreshed after a long day.

Now heres a before and after picture from using this product for 3 weeks. I hate putting up pictures of myself that are less then perfect but I really want to show the results I have got so far. My skin is still not back to its old self but a lot better then 3 weeks ago!

As you can see from the pictures below it has made a really good improvement on my skin. I would recommend this kit to anyone. It a great way to try out the products to see if they work for your before investing in the full size products.
